Police Ray Black Leather Strap Watch - W44129
Ref. PEWJB21953411
Sits in Police’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Police watches we list, which start at £50.
Price range £50 to £209 across 37 Police watches in stock. At 51mm, the Ray is unambiguously an oversized watch — the kind that sits at the edge of the wrist rather than across it, worn with full awareness of what it is. The hydraulic-textured black dial, with its pair of recessed sub-eyes set against the main surface, gives the face a layered depth that reads differently depending on how the light catches it: flat on, it reads as near-solid black; from an angle, the texture opens up. The stitched black leather and pin buckle keep the fastening simple, which suits a case this pronounced — there is already enough going on in the dial to make adding hardware at the wrist a mistake.

Learn more about Police
Police began in Italy in 1983 as an eyewear brand under the Vogue and later De Rigo groups, and built its identity on sunglasses worn by film and music figures through the 1980s and 1990s.
The watches are licensed rather than made in-house, produced under agreement by a specialist watch manufacturer and sold through jewellers and department stores alongside the eyewear and fragrance.
Design follows the label: heavy cases, dark PVD finishes, exposed screws and industrial detailing, skull and heraldic motifs, and a masculine, deliberately loud aesthetic that changes with the season rather than the decade.
Movements are quartz, occasionally multi-function, and prices sit in the fashion-watch bracket.
Taken as an accessory that matches a particular look, the range does what it sets out to. It is not a watchmaking company and does not present itself as one.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
