Stepping up in Police's range

Price range £50 to £209 across 15 Police watches in stock.

The Cage line is Police's sport-adjacent chronograph range, and this variant is the most straightforward read of the brief: blue dial, steel bracelet, no colour flourishes to navigate around. At 44mm the case sits squarely in the larger end of the everyday-wear bracket, and the dark sandblasted blue keeps the dial from feeling as wide as it measures. Three sub-dials fill the face without crowding it, and the silver baton indices hold legibility in low light without requiring lume to do the work. The five-link bracelet is proportionate to the case rather than fighting it, and the deployment clasp makes daily fastening straightforward.

Learn more about Police

Police began in Italy in 1983 as an eyewear brand under the Vogue and later De Rigo groups, and built its identity on sunglasses worn by film and music figures through the 1980s and 1990s.

The watches are licensed rather than made in-house, produced under agreement by a specialist watch manufacturer and sold through jewellers and department stores alongside the eyewear and fragrance.

Design follows the label: heavy cases, dark PVD finishes, exposed screws and industrial detailing, skull and heraldic motifs, and a masculine, deliberately loud aesthetic that changes with the season rather than the decade.

Movements are quartz, occasionally multi-function, and prices sit in the fashion-watch bracket.

Taken as an accessory that matches a particular look, the range does what it sets out to. It is not a watchmaking company and does not present itself as one.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.

Will the glass scratch?

It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as men's.
