The Speedtimer line traces its roots to the 1960s, when Seiko built precision timing equipment for international athletics — the kind used to settle fractions of a second at major competitions. The Crystal Trophy editions carry that reference forward through the dial, whose ice-blue sunray finish is drawn from the crystal awards presented to competitors at those events. It is a specific piece of design thinking rather than a generic colourway choice. At 41.4mm across and 13mm deep, the case is not small, but neither is the dial busy in the way a six-complication face can easily become: the black sub-dials sit cleanly against the blue ground, the power reserve sits unobtrusively at seven o'clock, and the tachymeter bezel gives the whole thing a sporting purposefulness without tipping into caricature. The 164-gram bracelet wears with enough substance to anchor it, and the push-button three-fold clasp makes fine adjustment straightforward.
