Storm's Remi line has long leaned into the kind of timekeeping that reads more like a mechanical curiosity than a watch face, and this square iteration makes the case most directly. Two stacked revolving discs replace hands entirely — hours and minutes turning independently on their own axes — while a multi-coloured spinning counter marks the seconds at the centre. It is a display that takes a moment to learn and then becomes difficult to ignore. At 36mm the square case is neither oversized nor diminutive, and at 9.5mm it sits close enough to the wrist to wear under a cuff without catching. The real draw of the dial shifts with the light: the mineral crystal is genuinely iridescent, moving through different gradients of blue as the angle changes, so the watch looks materially different indoors than it does outside. Storm was founded in London in 1989 and spent the next decade doing something few watch brands attempt: treating the case as sculpture rather than a container for a dial.
The house style is immediately identifiable — mirror-polished steel, faceted and asymmetric cases, dials with no numerals at all, and a fondness for finishes that make the whole watch look like a single machined block of metal.
Some of the designs abandon conventional time display entirely, using rotating discs, hidden apertures or coloured mirror crystals that only reveal the time at certain angles. The Remi and Zorex lines have carried that idea for years.
The brand designs and produces its own watches rather than licensing the name, and sells through its own stores and jewellers, mostly in the UK and Europe.
Movements are quartz throughout. The point has never been the mechanics; it is that a Storm watch does not look like anything else in the window, which after thirty-five years remains a fair claim.
