Stepping up in the same dial colour
Le Locle is Tissot's hometown in the Swiss Jura, and the watch family bears its name deliberately. Founded there in 1853, the company returned to that address when designing this collection: the guilloche dial pattern is drawn from the clock face on the church tower in the town's market square, and the caseback carries engraved scrollwork with the name pressed into it. It is a watch that treats its own origins as its primary ornament. The Powermatic 80 inside is worth understanding. The Nivachron balance spring — Tissot's own alloy, non-magnetic and resistant to temperature variation — gives it precision that sits close to COSC standard at plus or minus five seconds a day, and the 80-hour reserve means a watch left on the nightstand Friday evening is still running Monday morning. The engraved sapphire caseback lets you watch it work. At 9.75mm the case wears closer to the wrist than its dressy credentials might suggest, and at just under 39.5mm it reads as considered rather than showy — Roman numerals, leaf hands and a textured silver dial that shifts in light without demanding attention.
