The PRX was first introduced in 1978, and when Tissot revived the line in 2021 the defining characteristic was its flatness — the quartz and Powermatic 80 variants sit at 10.4mm and 10.9mm respectively, reading almost like dress watches. Adding a mechanical chronograph changes that calculus entirely. The Valjoux A05.H31 is a capable, well-regarded movement with a 60-hour power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring that resists magnetic and thermal interference, but it needs room. At 14.5mm this is a meaningfully different proposition from its siblings, and anyone expecting the same profile should know that going in. On the wrist the mass is noticeable — 184g against the three-hand automatic's 138g — but the integrated bracelet distributes it well enough that reviewers found it less top-heavy than the thickness suggests. The white panda dial, with rose gold-toned baton markers and sub-dials at three, six and nine, reads cleanly; the domed, anti-reflective sapphire helps at difficult angles. Half-links are included for sizing, which matters on a bracelet with no micro-adjustment at the clasp. The brushed steel picks up fingerprints and fine scratches readily, and the bezel finishing is functional rather than fastidious — something you will notice once you have owned it a while.
