The PR516 name goes back to the 1960s, when Tissot drew directly from the world of circuit racing — the tachymeter, the stopwatch function, the sense that a watch should keep pace with a fast-moving machine. This current version is a reinterpretation of the 1970 form, and it wears that inheritance in the proportions rather than in overt retro signalling. At 40mm and 12.16mm thick, it is notably slimmer than the automatic siblings in the PR516 family, which run a millimetre wider and considerably deeper. That flatness, combined with a bracelet whose domed three-link construction curves gently at the case, means the watch settles against the wrist rather than sitting on top of it. The black tachymeter bezel against the white dial gives the chronograph subdials room to read clearly; the syringe-shaped hands and applied stick markers keep the face uncluttered even when the stopwatch is running. The ETA G10.212 at the heart of it holds to within plus or minus 0.1 seconds per day — tighter than most quartz movements manage — and carries an ADD/SPLIT function that makes it genuinely useful rather than decorative. The push-button deployant opens and closes with the kind of snap that suggests the bracelet will stay that way.
