Stepping up in Vivienne Westwood's range

Price range £140 to £325 across 50 Vivienne Westwood watches in stock.

Named after the City's financial heartland, the Fenchurch sits at the more restrained end of Westwood's output — the orb motif is there on the dial, alongside Roman numerals and a date window at three, but the pink and silver combination keeps it closer to quiet confidence than provocation. The Swiss movement behind the dial is accurate and undemanding to live with. At 28mm and 8.5mm deep, this is a watch that disappears under a cuff or reads neatly against the wrist without pressing for attention. The three-link bracelet, finished with both polish and brushing, adds some visual interest without weight: at 72 grams the whole thing is light enough that it stops registering after the first hour of wear. The butterfly clasp opens cleanly on a push-button and the bracelet can be sized down by removing links, which matters at this diameter — proportion between case and bracelet width is what makes a small watch sit right.

Learn more about Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren opened a shop at 430 King's Road in 1971, and over the next few years it became the outfitter of British punk. Westwood went on to become one of the most decorated designers Britain has produced, with the orb logo — a sovereign's orb with a Saturn ring — as the house signature from 1987.

The watches are licensed rather than made in-house, produced under agreement by a British accessories manufacturer and sold through department stores and jewellers.

They carry the house language directly: the orb on the crown or the dial, tartan and heritage-check straps, asymmetric cases, and a willingness to be decorative that most watch brands avoid. Quartz movements, fashion pricing.

Westwood died in 2022. The house continues, and the watch line with it.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.

Water resistance explained

Will the glass scratch?

It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.

Sapphire, mineral and acrylic compared

Does it need a battery?

Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.

Quartz, automatic and solar compared

What size strap does it take?

18mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as women's.
