The Chronomaster Sport sits at the end of a very particular line of thinking. When Zenith introduced the El Primero in 1969 it was already running at 36,000 vibrations per hour, fast enough to time elapsed intervals to a tenth of a second rather than the fifth that most chronographs of the era managed. The 3600 calibre in this watch carries that same frequency, and the central chronograph hand sweeps the full dial once per minute, each second divided into ten legible segments. That is not a marketing claim about precision — it changes what the watch can actually do. The tricolour dial is the other inheritance, pulled from the De Luca and Rainbow references of the eighties and nineties, where Zenith made a signature of running the three sub-dials in contrasting metallic shades. Here they sit against a sunray-patterned blue, and in strong light the tonal shift between the 60-second counter at 3, the minute register at 6, and the small seconds at 9 becomes immediately readable rather than something to study. The bezel engraving — the 1/10th-of-a-second tachymeter graduation — reinforces that the watch was drawn for use, not display. The bracelet follows the same logic: brushed outer links for durability, polished inner links so it does not read as purely functional on the wrist. The sapphire caseback is worth mentioning because the 3600 is worth seeing. Column-wheel construction, in-house, with the characteristic El Primero finishing that Zenith has been refining for over fifty years.
