Zenith Pilot Big Date Flyback 42.5mm Mens Watch
Ref. 49.4000.3652/21.I001
Sits in Zenith’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Zenith watches we list, which start at £7,000.
Price range £7,000 to £28,000 across 43 Zenith watches in stock.Zenith's aviation chronographs trace directly back to the El Primero, the movement that demonstrated a column-wheel flyback could run at 36,000 vibrations per hour without compromise. The 3652 calibre here is a development of that architecture, and the skeletonised rotor — shaped after a cockpit artificial horizon — makes the connection explicit rather than decorative. The flyback function was a practical aviation requirement before it became a complication worth advertising: a single press resets and restarts without the three-step sequence a standard chronograph demands, which matters when timing a second leg immediately after the first. The ceramic case presents as all-black and matte throughout — case, bezel, crown — which keeps the corrugated dial texture doing most of the visual work. Through the exhibition caseback the rotor's instrument-panel form is readable, and the central tenth-of-a-second hand completes a full rotation every ten seconds, making it the most immediate indicator of the movement's pace. The big date jumps in under 0.03 seconds via a patented dual-disc mechanism, and the watch ships with a second khaki rubber strap alongside the black, interchangeable without tools.
