The BU9000 is Burberry's exercise in translating the house check — the tartan grid that has anchored the brand's identity for well over a century — into a watch dial. Stamped into the silver surface rather than printed, it reads as texture at arm's length and as pattern up close, which gives the dial more to do than a plain index face would. At 38mm it sits on either wrist without adjustment, which is presumably the intent behind the unisex sizing: broad enough to register, contained enough not to dominate. The 30mm bracelet is wide relative to the case, keeping the proportions flush across the wrist rather than tapered, and the deployant clasp means the fit stays consistent day to day.
