Stepping up in Gerald Charles's range

Price range £15,960 to £76,920 across 17 Gerald Charles watches in stock.

Gerald Charles built its reputation on an unlikely proposition: a dress watch thin enough to sit beneath a shirt cuff, tough enough to earn a water resistance rating and a rubber strap. The Maestro GC Sport takes that same cushion-shaped case and commits it to something more active. The GCA 3002 is the detail that separates it from a sports watch that merely looks the part — developed in partnership with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, it runs at 28,800vph through twin barrels, measures just 3.70mm thick, and accounts for much of why the whole watch sits at 8.70mm on the wrist. At 39mm in Grade 5 titanium, the complete package weighs around 50 grams. That figure is what you actually notice the first time you pick it up. The sunburst royal blue dial rewards angled light in the way that finish always does, shifting between deep navy and something closer to cobalt. The gem-set bezel keeps it from reading as purely utilitarian, which is consistent with what Gerald Charles has always been after — performance hardware dressed without apology. The rubber strap carries the Clous de Paris motif on its face and the house tapisserie on the reverse, and it carries a faint vanilla scent from the vulcanisation process: an unexpected detail that a new owner tends to notice before they go looking for it.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.

Will the glass scratch?

Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.

How long does it run for when it's not worn?

About 50 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.

What size strap does it take?

22mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as men's, though at 39mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
