Peter Speake-Marin built his reputation on finishing movements to a standard that made them worth looking at, and the One & Two Openworked makes that the entire point of wearing the watch. The SMA01 running beneath the dial is COSC-certified and beats at 28,800vph through 33 jewels, wound by a fully integrated micro-rotor that keeps the caseback as clean as the front — both sides covered in anti-reflective sapphire so the movement is readable from either end. Engraved onto the visible mainspring barrel are words from the brand's own philosophy, "RESPECT" and "CREATIVITE" among them, legible only once you have looked closely enough to find them. The Piccadilly case — named for the London street that informs Speake-Marin's identity — carries all of this in 18K red gold at 10.5mm thick, which for an openworked piece in a precious metal is genuinely restrained. The heart-shaped hands, polished and black PVD-coated, and the 3D small-seconds counter set at 1:30 rather than the conventional 6 o'clock give the dial an asymmetric logic that takes a moment to read, and rewards that moment. On a grey grained leather strap with a matching red gold pin buckle, it sits as a considered object rather than a conspicuous one.
