Stepping up in Limit's range
A straightforward dress watch built for occasions when something gold-toned is wanted without weight or fuss. The cream dial is matte, which keeps it legible rather than reflective, and the full Arabic numerals read clearly against it at a glance. At 38mm it sits neatly on most wrists without pressing into a shirt cuff, and at 8mm it lies flat enough to clear a jacket sleeve. The mock-crocodile PU strap does the job of leather without the upkeep — a practical choice for a watch that will likely see occasional rather than daily wear.

Learn more about Limit
Limit has been sold in Britain since 1912, and for most of that time it has occupied one position without much deviation: the cheapest watch in the shop that is still worth owning.
It sits under Time Products, the same ownership as Sekonda and Accurist, which gives all three shared sourcing and distribution across British jewellers, catalogue retailers and department stores.
The range is deliberately conservative — plain dials, Roman or baton markers, gold-plated and stainless cases, leather and bracelet straps, mostly quartz with a small number of mechanical models. Pocket watches remain part of the catalogue, which few brands can still say.
It is a first watch, a school watch, a work watch and a gift watch, and it has been all four for over a century without pretending to be anything else.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Sapphire, mineral and acrylic comparedDoes it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
Quartz, automatic and solar comparedWhat size strap does it take?
20mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's, though at 38mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
