La Grande Classique began as a tribute to the Agassiz pocket watch that Longines made in 1982 to mark its 150th anniversary, and when the collection launched in 1992 it carried forward that debt to Art Deco proportion: round, slender, Roman numerals, nothing extraneous. This two-tone reference in yellow PVD over steel is one of six combinations offered at 24mm, and it sits exactly where the design logic points — small enough to read as jewellery on a narrow wrist, flat enough at 5mm to disappear under a sleeve. The white dial with painted black Roman numerals is deliberately spare, and at this diameter it works because there is little room for anything else. The yellow gold tone runs through both case and bracelet, giving the watch a unified appearance that a mixed-metal piece often struggles to achieve, and the triple folding clasp with push-piece release is a practical addition that the slim profile might not suggest.
