Stepping up in Maserati's range
The Potenza line takes its name and its aesthetic direction from Maserati's performance car heritage, and this skeleton variant makes that connection explicit: the trident logo is not printed or applied but cut into the movement view itself, so the brand mark and the mechanics occupy the same plane. The TY2809 is a workhorse Chinese-made automatic that turns up regularly in fashion watches at this level, and there is no pretending otherwise — but it is a reasonable host for an openwork treatment, legible through the dial rather than hidden beneath it. What gives this watch its particular character is the contrast between the plain steel case and the yellow gold PVD bezel and hands, a combination that reads as deliberately bold rather than incidentally mismatched. At 42mm with a 13.7mm profile it sits with some presence on the wrist, not a discreet watch by any reading.

Learn more about Maserati
The Maserati brothers founded their workshop in Bologna in 1914 and built racing cars that won the Targa Florio and the Indianapolis 500. The trident emblem comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
The watches are a licensed line produced by Morellato Group in Italy, not by the carmaker. They draw openly on automotive design: tachymeter bezels, perforated leather straps recalling racing gloves, dashboard-style dials, and case shapes referencing grilles and instrument binnacles.
Movements are quartz and bought-in automatic. The appeal is the association and the styling rather than the mechanics.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
What size strap does it take?
20mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
