Maserati R8823140014 Sfida Automatic Bracelet Watch - W81208
Ref. R8823140014
Sits in Maserati’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Maserati watches we list, which start at £104.
Price range £104 to £419 across 78 Maserati watches in stock. The Sfida collection takes its name from the Italian for challenge, and the brief behind it is straightforwardly automotive: a watch that reads as something from the world of Maserati's engines rather than its showrooms. The skeleton dial earns that ambition more than most — the black dial opening up to show the NH70's balance wheel and gear train in motion, which is the Seiko workhorse movement worn openly rather than hidden behind a closed caseback. At 44mm across and 11mm thick, this is a broad watch that sits with real weight on the wrist — 190 grams in steel tells you what to expect before it's fastened. The gold-tone hands and markers read cleanly against the dark movement beneath them, and the mineral crystal carries a sapphire coating that brings meaningful scratch resistance without the specification of full sapphire. The rotating bezel adds a functional edge to what is otherwise a dress-adjacent design.

Learn more about Maserati
The Maserati brothers founded their workshop in Bologna in 1914 and built racing cars that won the Targa Florio and the Indianapolis 500. The trident emblem comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
The watches are a licensed line produced by Morellato Group in Italy, not by the carmaker. They draw openly on automotive design: tachymeter bezels, perforated leather straps recalling racing gloves, dashboard-style dials, and case shapes referencing grilles and instrument binnacles.
Movements are quartz and bought-in automatic. The appeal is the association and the styling rather than the mechanics.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 41 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.
What size strap does it take?
22mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
