Maserati R8823140015 Sfida Automatic Gunmetal Bracelet Watch - W81299
Ref. R8823140015
Sits in Maserati’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Maserati watches we list, which start at £104.
Price range £104 to £419 across 106 Maserati watches in stock. The Sfida collection takes its name from the Italian for challenge, and this piece channels the automotive world Maserati inhabits — the skeleton layout is not decorative whimsy but a deliberate nod to exposed engineering, the visible mechanics of a machine doing its work. The movement doing that work is the Seiko NH70, a Japanese calibre built specifically for open-dial applications, its balance wheel sitting at nine o'clock where it can be watched in motion through the dial and again through the exhibition caseback. At 11mm thick for a 44mm case, the proportions are reasonably disciplined for a skeletonised automatic of this size, and the blue sunray elements across the dial shift with the light in a way that prevents the exposed movement from reading as purely industrial. The gunmetal bracelet sits close to the case aesthetically, giving the watch a coherent, integrated look on the wrist rather than the mismatched appearance that can come when a bracelet and case finish diverge. At 190 grams it is a watch that makes itself known on the wrist, which suits the brief — this is not a watch that disappears under a shirt cuff.

Learn more about Maserati
The Maserati brothers founded their workshop in Bologna in 1914 and built racing cars that won the Targa Florio and the Indianapolis 500. The trident emblem comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
The watches are a licensed line produced by Morellato Group in Italy, not by the carmaker. They draw openly on automotive design: tachymeter bezels, perforated leather straps recalling racing gloves, dashboard-style dials, and case shapes referencing grilles and instrument binnacles.
Movements are quartz and bought-in automatic. The appeal is the association and the styling rather than the mechanics.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
