The Datomaster revives a mid-century Nivada Grenchen aesthetic in a form built for the present: 36mm across, a panda dial with black subdials and a single orange chronograph hand cutting through the white, applied baton indices, and a domed sapphire crystal that gathers and bends light the way vintage acrylic once did. The proportions feel deliberate — at 12mm thick it wears closer to the wrist than most chronographs of any era. The movement is the VK64 mecaquartz from Seiko Instruments, a hybrid that runs a mechanical chronograph module from a quartz oscillator. The start-stop sweep is immediate and physical rather than the stepping motion of a pure quartz chronograph, while the timekeeping needs no adjustment. It is an honest solution to a real problem, and in a limited run of 100 pieces it carries more weight than it might otherwise.
