Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The Divers Sixty-Five traces its shape to Oris's first diver's watch from 1965, but this reference marks two firsts at once: Calibre 400 appearing inside a Sixty-Five for the first time, and a 12-hour bi-directional bezel replacing the standard unidirectional dive ring. That bezel is the detail that changes the watch's character — tracking a second time zone or timing extended events, it recalls the military tool watches of the same decade the original was born into. Calibre 400 is an entirely in-house movement, and the engineering behind it is worth understanding. The silicon escapement ignores magnetic fields entirely, and with 30 components made from non-ferrous or non-magnetic alloys the whole movement resists up to 2,250 Gauss — considerably beyond daily electronic exposure. Accuracy is rated at -3/+5 seconds per day, tighter than COSC requires, with a recommended service interval of ten years and a matched warranty when registered. The twin barrels give a 120-hour reserve, so the power reserve indicator on the dial is genuinely useful rather than decorative. Despite 12.8mm of case height the watch wears as though it were two millimetres thinner — the domed crystal carries most of that measurement, and the overall silhouette reads as flatter than the figures suggest. The see-through caseback lets the movement do its own talking.
