Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The redesigned Artelier Date was shown at Watches & Wonders 2026, part of a deliberate push by Oris to bring its dressier line closer to contemporary taste. The person responsible for it, product design engineer Lena Huwiler, was 24 at the time — a choice that shows in the result: less heritage cosplay, more a considered proposal about what a modern dress watch at 38mm should look like in 2026. At 10.9mm it wears noticeably flat for a bracelet watch, and the 44mm lug-to-lug means it sits without overhang on a range of wrists. The dark blue dial reads differently across light conditions — closer to navy indoors, livelier in daylight — and the domed sapphire, treated on both sides, keeps glare manageable without washing the colour out. Baton indices keep the surface uncluttered; there is no lume, which suits the watch's intent but is worth knowing. The movement is a Sellita SW200-1 base with a customised red rotor, specified by Oris with Incabloc shock protection rather than the standard Novodiac. It is honest, reliable and widely serviced; whether a buyer finds that sufficient or would rather have something proprietary is a genuine question, and not one with a universal answer. The screwed caseback carries a mineral exhibition window, so the rotor is visible without being behind sapphire.
