A 44mm round stainless steel case houses a black dial with luminous hands and markers, all protected by a hardened mineral crystal. The fixed bezel carries a skull engraving, and the screw-down caseback adds a neat finish to the reverse. At 15mm thick with a 22mm lug width, the case sits with some presence on the wrist. Power comes from a Seiko Y121 quartz movement. A black silicone strap with a pin buckle keeps things secure, and the watch is water resistant to 50 metres.

Philipp Plein founded his label in Munich in 1998, initially designing furniture before moving into fashion. The brand built itself on deliberate excess and has been divisive throughout.
The watches follow suit: heavy gold and black PVD plating, skull motifs, dense crystal setting, and large cases. Movements are quartz. There is no attempt at horological restraint and none is intended.
The brand knows precisely what it is doing and does it without apology, which at least makes it coherent.
