Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The Seastar 1000 shrank from 43mm to 40mm when Tissot revised the family, and that single decision changed what the watch is for. The notched case edge is a detail, but the tighter diameter is the substance: a diver rated to 300 metres at 40mm with a 12.5mm case sits close enough to the wrist to disappear under a sleeve, which is not what most watches in this category manage. The blue-to-black gradient runs across a vertically striated dial, deepening toward the edges under the black PVD case and ceramic bezel — at an angle the whole thing reads darker than it does face-on. The plongeur hands and applied markers carry enough Super-LumiNova to be genuinely useful at depth, not merely decorative. The Powermatic 80.111 inside draws from an ETA 2824 lineage but runs on a Nivachron balance spring, which is non-magnetic and measurably more stable across temperature changes than traditional alloys. The 80-hour reserve is visible through the exhibition caseback, and at 21,600 vph the movement is no sprinter, but it is not trying to be one. This is a calibre built to keep running across a long weekend without attention, and it does.
