The Mega Chief is Diesel's most literal expression of its design philosophy — a 51mm case that makes no apology for its scale and uses the black PVD finish and orange accents to read as industrial equipment rather than dress wear. It is a fashion chronograph, and it commits to that fully. On the wrist, 51mm is a considerable presence, and this one earns it: the dial is busy in a deliberate way, with the sub-dials and date window organised so that the eye has somewhere to go. The leather strap softens what would otherwise be a very hard combination of materials against the skin, and a 26mm width keeps the proportions from looking undersized beneath the case.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
