Diesel's Baby Chief sits at the louder end of the brand's catalogue — a chronograph built to be noticed first and read second, with a full-gold case and matching bracelet that make no attempt at subtlety. The sunray dial catches light as the wrist moves, the three subdials giving the face enough structure to avoid reading as blank. At 43mm with a case that runs 43 × 50mm, it wears long on the wrist, which suits the proportions — a watch this visually heavy needs the presence to carry it. The deployment clasp keeps the bracelet flat against the wrist and makes daily use considerably more convenient than a fold-over would.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
