The DolceVita draws its rectangular case from a Longines design of the 1920s, and the line has held that proportional logic ever since its formal relaunch. This 20.8×32mm reference sits in the middle of the family — larger than the smallest size offered, smaller than the grandest — and that balance reads clearly on the wrist: present enough to register as a dress watch, narrow enough to slip beneath a cuff or shirt sleeve without a thought. At 6.90mm thick the case wears closer to a bracelet than to most rectangular watches of comparable dimensions, and the clean white dial with its baton markers keeps nothing in reserve. The small seconds subdial at six gives the dial just enough asymmetry to hold interest without disturbing the calm. The end-of-life battery indicator built into the L178 calibre is a quiet piece of practicality: the seconds hand steps to four-second intervals well before the battery fails, giving time to arrange a replacement without the watch stopping unannounced.
