The DolceVita traces its character back to a 1920s rectangular case, and the proportions of that original — a format that reads more as an elongated jewel than a conventional watch face — have remained the point of the collection ever since. Roman numerals painted on a white dial, blued steel hands, and a small seconds at six o'clock are details that belong to a particular kind of dressing-table aesthetic, and Longines has not felt the need to update them. At 23.3 × 37mm the case is slender across the wrist but usefully long, giving the dial room to breathe in a way that rounder watches of comparable width rarely achieve. The sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on both sides, which keeps the white dial clean under artificial light rather than picking up whatever the room is doing. At 87.9g on its steel bracelet the watch has enough presence to feel considered without sitting heavily.
