The Competizione series is Maserati's attempt to carry the character of the car brand into a wearable object — not the formal side of the marque but the driving one, the cockpit aesthetic rather than the showroom one. The green honeycomb dial makes that intent legible: the texture reads as a grille or a ventilation surface, and the colour sits closer to a racing livery than to a dress dial. At 43mm the case is sized for the look rather than any understatement, and at 11.2mm it carries that footprint without becoming unwieldy on the wrist. The unidirectional rotating bezel with its ceramic insert gives the watch the functional silhouette of a sport piece, and the bracelet — alternating matte and polished links closed by a push-button deployant — holds it in place without bulk. The Maserati brothers founded their workshop in Bologna in 1914 and built racing cars that won the Targa Florio and the Indianapolis 500. The trident emblem comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
The watches are a licensed line produced by Morellato Group in Italy, not by the carmaker. They draw openly on automotive design: tachymeter bezels, perforated leather straps recalling racing gloves, dashboard-style dials, and case shapes referencing grilles and instrument binnacles.
Movements are quartz and bought-in automatic. The appeal is the association and the styling rather than the mechanics.
