Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The Sfida collection takes its name from the Italian for challenge, and the brief behind it is transparent: Maserati's motorsport identity translated into a wrist-worn object rather than a badge exercise. The unidirectional bezel, rendered in black and green, does the clearest work here — it reads as a tachymetre's cousin and gives the otherwise conventional steel case a distinct point of view. At 44mm the case has genuine presence, but 11mm of thickness is lean for a watch doing this much — GMT hand, date, rotating bezel — and the result sits lower against the wrist than the size alone would suggest. The Miyota quartz movement underneath is Japanese-built and sensibly chosen: it keeps the fourth GMT hand independent and accurate without demanding the attention a mechanical calibre would. At 100.4 grams on the bracelet it has enough weight to feel considered rather than hollow, and the double push-button clasp with removable links means the fit can be dialled in properly rather than worn loose.

The Maserati brothers founded their workshop in Bologna in 1914 and built racing cars that won the Targa Florio and the Indianapolis 500. The trident emblem comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
The watches are a licensed line produced by Morellato Group in Italy, not by the carmaker. They draw openly on automotive design: tachymeter bezels, perforated leather straps recalling racing gloves, dashboard-style dials, and case shapes referencing grilles and instrument binnacles.
Movements are quartz and bought-in automatic. The appeal is the association and the styling rather than the mechanics.
