Stepping up in Norqain's range
The Independence Skeleton began at 42mm, and this is Norqain's answer to those for whom that size was one step too far. At 40mm with a 46.30mm lug-to-lug span, it sits differently on the wrist — closer, more settled — without conceding anything of the original's architecture. The movement is a skeletonised Sellita SW200-1 base, COSC-certified and personalised with a Norqain rotor, so what you see through the open dial is not decoration but a chronometer-grade mechanism doing actual work. A NORQAIN engraving runs along the left flank of the case, and the seconds hand carries an orange arrowhead tip — a small flourish that catches the eye before the movement does. The khaki rubber strap has a Milanese-pattern texture pressed into it, and the DLC pin buckle matches the case coating so nothing interrupts the dark coherence of the piece. Diamond-cut hands filled with white X1 Super-LumiNova read cleanly against the openworked anthracite dial in most light, and hold well after dark — which matters more than usual here, because a skeleton dial without strong lume can become illegible the moment the light drops.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 41 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.
What size strap does it take?
20mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Will it fit my wrist?
Lug-to-lug is 46.30mm, which suits wrists from roughly 16cm (6¼ inches) upward.
Lug-to-lug decides fit more than case diameter does.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's, though at 40mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
