The Desert Edition began with a phone call to Coulson Aviation, the family-owned aerial firefighting company whose pilots and engineers run suppression missions across multiple continents. Oris presented the watch at Dubai Watch Week in 2025, making it among the first public showings of the updated ProPilot Date — and using the collaboration to push the case construction somewhere the standard model does not go. The middle case and lugs are carbon fibre, shaped through an additive-manufacturing process Oris developed themselves; the bezel, crown and caseback are steel with a grey PVD finish. The result is a watch expected to sit noticeably light on the wrist for 41mm. The dial deserves attention in variable light. The sand-beige grained texture is a direct reference to desert terrain, and the red accents lift it from utilitarian without tipping into sportswear. The double-domed sapphire works internally anti-reflective, which matters more than it sounds on a dial this pale — glare would kill readability fast. The clasp mechanism mirrors the seatbelt latch geometry found in aircraft cockpits and carries Oris's stepless LIFT adjustment, so fit changes quickly without tools. The caseback is mineral rather than sapphire, but the engraving there acknowledges the Coulson partnership for anyone who looks.
