Stepping up in the same colour and case shape

Price range £50 to £209 across 37 Police watches in stock.

At 47mm across and 179 grams on the wrist, this is a watch that announces itself — broad, dark, and deliberately heavy in a way that suits a larger wrist and a certain kind of wearing occasion. The black PVD case sits against a sandblasted dial, and over both sits a blue-tinted mineral crystal that shifts the way the watch reads depending on the angle of the light: head-on it reads close to black, caught obliquely it takes on the colour of the bracelet and the whole thing coheres differently. That blue-linked bracelet adjusts by removing standard links and fastens with a push-button deployant, which at this weight is the right call — a folding clasp manages 179 grams more securely than a tang buckle would over a long day.

Learn more about Police

Police began in Italy in 1983 as an eyewear brand under the Vogue and later De Rigo groups, and built its identity on sunglasses worn by film and music figures through the 1980s and 1990s.

The watches are licensed rather than made in-house, produced under agreement by a specialist watch manufacturer and sold through jewellers and department stores alongside the eyewear and fragrance.

Design follows the label: heavy cases, dark PVD finishes, exposed screws and industrial detailing, skull and heraldic motifs, and a masculine, deliberately loud aesthetic that changes with the season rather than the decade.

Movements are quartz, occasionally multi-function, and prices sit in the fashion-watch bracket.

Taken as an accessory that matches a particular look, the range does what it sets out to. It is not a watchmaking company and does not present itself as one.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.

Will the glass scratch?

It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.

Does it need a battery?

Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.

What size strap does it take?

24mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Will it fit my wrist?

Lug-to-lug is 53mm, which suits wrists from roughly 17.5cm (7 inches) upward.

Lug-to-lug decides fit more than case diameter does.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as men's.
