At 51mm across and 56mm lug to lug, this is built for a large wrist and makes no attempt to hide it. The Ray collection sits at the aggressive end of Police's range — industrial proportions, a hydraulic-patterned dial, multiple sub-dials arranged with a deliberate complexity that reads more dashboard than dress watch. Despite the footprint, 114 grams is lighter than it looks, largely because the silicone strap keeps the overall weight honest. The blacked-out PVD case and dial hold together as a single dark mass in flat light, but the textured dial surface picks up enough angle to give the face some movement. GMT and day-date functions give it genuine utility for anyone doing a fair amount of travelling.

Learn more about Police
Police began in Italy in 1983 as an eyewear brand under the Vogue and later De Rigo groups, and built its identity on sunglasses worn by film and music figures through the 1980s and 1990s.
The watches are licensed rather than made in-house, produced under agreement by a specialist watch manufacturer and sold through jewellers and department stores alongside the eyewear and fragrance.
Design follows the label: heavy cases, dark PVD finishes, exposed screws and industrial detailing, skull and heraldic motifs, and a masculine, deliberately loud aesthetic that changes with the season rather than the decade.
Movements are quartz, occasionally multi-function, and prices sit in the fashion-watch bracket.
Taken as an accessory that matches a particular look, the range does what it sets out to. It is not a watchmaking company and does not present itself as one.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
What size strap does it take?
24mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Will it fit my wrist?
Lug-to-lug is 56mm, which suits wrists from roughly 18.5cm (7¼ inches) upward.
Lug-to-lug decides fit more than case diameter does.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
