Stepping up in the same colour and case shape

Price range £250 to £2,740 across 252 Tissot watches in stock.

The PRX line began as Tissot's integrated-bracelet answer to the luxury sports watches of 1978, and the Digital takes that tonneau case and swaps the mechanical dial for an LCD — a deliberate callback to the parallel craze for digital quartz that was reshaping the industry at exactly the same moment. The result is a watch that holds both impulses in the same object rather than choosing between them. At 35mm with a 39mm lug-to-lug span, it sits neatly on narrower wrists without feeling dainty, and the all-gold PVD finish — satin-brushed across case, pushers and every link — gives it a coherence that monochrome dressing tends to reward. The bracelet flows into the case without a visible seam, and the concealed butterfly clasp keeps the underside clean, though sizing is a matter of removing links rather than using a micro-adjust, so it is worth getting the fit right at the outset. The Calibre 4012 module runs a full suite of functions — dual time, alarm, countdown, chronograph — off a single CR2025 cell rated for around four years. For a gold-toned piece, the practical depth rating and the backlit display are quietly useful details that shift it away from pure nostalgia.

Learn more about Tissot

Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile founded the company in Le Locle in 1853, assembling gold pocket watches and, unusually for the time, exporting aggressively — Russia became a major market within a decade.

Tissot's history is a sequence of firsts achieved through willingness to try materials and ideas the establishment considered unserious. The first mass-produced pocket watch with two time zones came in 1853. The first anti-magnetic wristwatch in 1930. The Astrolon of 1971 was the first watch with a movement made largely of injection-moulded plastic, and it worked. The RockWatch of 1985 used Alpine granite for the case, followed by watches in wood and mother-of-pearl.

The T-Touch of 1999 was the most significant: a tactile sapphire crystal allowing the wearer to access altimeter, barometer, compass, thermometer, and chronograph by touching the glass, years before touchscreens were commonplace.

Tissot merged with Omega in 1930 and both became founding members of what is now the Swatch Group. Its position in the group is volume and accessibility — Swiss mechanical and quartz watches at prices most people can reach, with the Powermatic 80 movement offering an eighty-hour reserve at entry level.

The company has held timekeeping roles across cycling, basketball, motorsport, and fencing.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.

Will the glass scratch?

Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.

Does it need a battery?

Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.

What size strap does it take?

11mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Will it fit my wrist?

Lug-to-lug is 39mm, which suits wrists from roughly 15cm (6 inches) upward.

Lug-to-lug decides fit more than case diameter does.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as unisex, and at this size it suits any wrist that takes the dimensions.

Cheapest place to buy

Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.

Who are Goldsmiths?

Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
