The Gentleman line arrived in 2019 as Tissot's case for a clean, unshowy automatic at a sensible size, and this 38mm version refines that argument further. It is a deliberate step down from the 40mm original — the diameter is tighter, the dial drops the crosshair pattern that divided its predecessor's face, and the Nivachron hairspring replaces the silicon balance spring of the larger model. Nivachron resists magnetism and absorbs shock without the fragility that silicon can bring, which matters more than it sounds for a watch that genuinely gets worn every day. At 45.7mm lug-to-lug and 11.53mm thick, this sits neatly on narrower wrists and disappears under a shirt cuff without protest. The green dial has a pyramidal sunray-brushed finish that cuts it into quarters — not immediately obvious, but visible when the light catches it at an angle, giving the dial a quiet geometry rather than a flat field of colour. Applied markers and a framed date window keep the face legible without cluttering it. The Powermatic 80 underneath earns its keep. An 80-hour reserve means a watch set down on a Friday evening is still running on Monday morning, which is genuinely useful for anyone who rotates across several pieces. The bracelet releases without tools, so swapping to a strap is a two-second job rather than a bench exercise.
