The Stinger collection marks a deliberate turn for Diesel — away from the aggressively oversized cases that built their reputation and toward something that will actually live under a shirt cuff. At 44mm the case is still a substantial presence, but 10mm of thickness is genuinely lean for that footprint, and the screwed caseback adds a solidity that the price bracket does not always guarantee. The grey sunray dial reads clearly in most light without demanding attention, and the brown calfskin strap — cut wide at the lugs and tapering to the buckle — gives the silver case a warmth it would not have on steel. The Miyota GL32 inside is a workhorse movement, chosen for reliability and a battery life that runs to around three years between changes rather than the shorter cycles common in this category.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
