ID Genève was founded on a straightforward premise: that a Swiss watch could be built without the environmental compromises the industry has long treated as routine. The Circular 1 makes that argument in material terms — the steel in the case is fully recycled, sourced from Jura, the movement is a refurbished ETA 2824 given a second working life rather than melted down, and the strap is woven from vegetal textile rather than cut from hide. Even the packaging is home-compostable mycelium. Nothing about the construction is incidental. At 41mm with a case just under 10mm deep, it sits without bulk, and the black dial rewards the light it gets — the sunbeam brushing shifts between near-flat and quietly alive depending on the angle, while the applied steel indices catch separately. The fabric strap keeps the whole thing relaxed on the wrist, which suits a watch that is making a point about materials without trying to shout about it.
