The original PR516 appeared in 1970, its square hands and tachymetre-graduated bezel drawing directly from the motorsport culture of that era. This 2024 reinterpretation keeps both — the squared handset is a genuine period detail, not decoration applied after the fact — and adds yellow gold PVD to the bezel and bracelet links, making this the dressed variant of the current launch lineup against its all-steel and leather-strap siblings. At 38mm the case sits neatly on a range of wrists without crowding them, and the cream dial with gold-tone hands reads warmer than the standard white-dial versions. The Nivachron balance spring in the Powermatic 80 movement resists magnetic interference better than a conventional alloy, which matters more than it once did given how much time most wrists spend near electronics — and the 80-hour reserve means a watch left off for a weekend will still be running on Monday. The quick-change bracelet system is a practical addition: the bracelet itself mixes brushed and polished finishing across its two-tone links, and the push-button deployment makes daily removal straightforward.
