Diesel's Fastbak line is built around a straightforward proposition: maximum presence for casual wear, with none of the weight or complication that tends to come with it. At 45mm the DZ1835 sits wide on the wrist, but 10mm of thickness means it lies flatter than you might expect at that diameter, and the black sunray dial — which shifts tone as the light moves across it — keeps the face readable rather than merely busy. The brushed gold-tone top ring against the silver case is a deliberate contrast, the kind of detail that reads differently under a jacket cuff than it does on an open wrist. The 22mm leather strap gives it a substantial feel in the hand and softens in relatively quickly. For a watch pitched at this size and aesthetic, the proportions are well judged.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
