The Streamline range is Diesel's answer to a specific brief: all-black, unapologetically large, built for the city rather than the outdoors. At 44mm the DZ2217 wears with the presence the brand is known for, and the blacked-out PVD case means it reads as a single dark mass on the wrist rather than a collection of parts. What breaks that uniformity, deliberately, is the gold tone on the second hand and the outlines of the hour markers. Against an all-black dial it is a considered contrast — enough to read clearly, not enough to soften the overall character. The silicone strap adjusts without tools, which on a watch this size matters more than it sounds: the fit can be dialled in precisely without a trip to a jeweller.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
