Diesel's Baby Chief line takes the brand's oversized attitude and pulls it back just enough to stay wearable — 43mm sits at the practical limit of that ethos rather than beyond it. The mirror silver dial is the point of distinction here: it reads closer to a reflective surface than a conventional dial face, which means it shifts considerably depending on the light falling on it, and the chronograph subdials and date give it enough visual structure to keep it legible. At a reported 10 to 11mm, the case is trimmer than the bold bracelet and dial treatment suggest, and the push-button deployant makes daily on and off straightforward without the usual fumbling of a standard fold-over. The 155g weight is noticeable on the wrist, but consistent with what a solid steel bracelet at this scale will always ask of you.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
