Gerald Charles Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin 39mm Mens Watch Black
Ref. GC2.0-A-00
Gérald Genta sketched the original Maestro case in the same era that produced his most celebrated designs, and the geometry has lost none of its tension: a square folding into an octagon, with a concave curve cut into the bottom of the case that gives the whole shape an expression you do not find on any other watch. The Maestro 2.0 keeps that outline and pairs it with a movement developed with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier — 3.7mm thin, running on twin barrels for a 50-hour reserve — which is why the case sits at 8.7mm despite meeting 100 metres of water resistance. That is a genuine engineering achievement at this depth rating, and it is what allows the watch to disappear under a shirt cuff. The black sunburst dial shifts between cool and warm registers as the light changes angle, so the small seconds subdial at six o'clock and the date window sitting just above it read differently at noon than they do indoors. On the wrist, the 39mm width and 41.7mm lug-to-lug measurement place it comfortably on a medium build without crowding the wrist. The rubber strap carries the Clous de Paris pattern on its outer face — the same guilloche found on the crown — and is vulcanised with a faint vanilla scent that fades in time but signals the level of attention paid to surfaces that most makers leave plain. The exhibition caseback rewards the same attention: Côtes de Genève on the bridges, colimaçon on the rotor, a sandblasted mainplate beneath.
