Stepping up in Gerald Charles's range
The Maestro has always carried the DNA of Gérald Genta's cushion case, but this limited run of 200 pieces takes that architecture somewhere specific: the grass-court tennis season, built to be worn through it rather than merely inspired by it. The crown moves to the left side of the case precisely so it disappears against the wrist during play, and at 8.7mm across a 39mm titanium shell, the whole thing sits below a shirt cuff without protest. The movement behind this is the result of Gerald Charles working directly with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier — one of the most respected ébauche houses in Switzerland — to produce a calibre just 3.7mm thick, beating at 28,800vph with 50 hours of reserve across twin barrels. That thinness is what makes the 8.7mm case possible, and the hexagonal bidirectional rotor visible through the sapphire caseback is particular to this collaboration. The graduated emerald dial, shifting lighter toward the centre, gives the watch its seasonal identity; the rubber strap adds it in a second key, embossed with Clous de Paris on one face and the house tapisserie on the reverse — a detail most owners find on the second or third handling.
