The Competizione collection takes its name directly from Maserati's motorsport vocabulary, and this piece applies that language to a sport-luxury aesthetic rather than a racing-tool brief. The three-register dial is styled to read like a chronograph, but the subdials carry day, date and 24-hour time — practical information arranged to look purposeful rather than merely decorative. At 43mm with a fluted, polished fixed bezel, the case has the proportions of a dress watch that has been pushed toward something more assertive. At 140 grams on the wrist it has real presence — this is not a watch you forget you are wearing. The Maserati brothers founded their workshop in Bologna in 1914 and built racing cars that won the Targa Florio and the Indianapolis 500. The trident emblem comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
The watches are a licensed line produced by Morellato Group in Italy, not by the carmaker. They draw openly on automotive design: tachymeter bezels, perforated leather straps recalling racing gloves, dashboard-style dials, and case shapes referencing grilles and instrument binnacles.
Movements are quartz and bought-in automatic. The appeal is the association and the styling rather than the mechanics.
