The Aquis Date was already a capable tool when it launched in 2011, but the 2024 redesign addressed the one thing owners quietly wanted: a thinner, better-wearing case. At 13.1mm, it is 0.6mm slimmer than its predecessor — a small number that makes a real difference under a cuff. The lugs were also reworked, curving more sharply downward and tapering on both planes, so the 43.5mm sits against the wrist the way a traditional 41mm tends to. This reference is the straightforward black-dial, steel-bracelet version of that updated generation, sitting alongside blue, green and recycled-dial siblings without any distinguishing story of its own. The black dial reads with high contrast in any light, bold white markers picking up the SuperLuminova coating efficiently in the dark. The ceramic bezel insert is there to do a job, and the black-on-black pairing keeps the watch from reading as showy. On the bracelet, the redesigned wider central link and narrower overall profile continue the theme of a watch that wants to feel less bulky than its dimensions suggest. The calibre inside is a Sellita SW200 base, built to Oris' 733 specification rather than the brand's own Calibre 400, which is available on other references in the same line. It is a sound, proven movement — reliable and widely serviced — without the finishing or extended power reserve that the in-house option would bring. For a watch intended to go in the water and stay there, that is an honest fit.
