The ProPilot Date has its roots in a lineage that stretches back to Oris's Big Crown Pointer Date of 1938, but this 2025 iteration is something more immediate: a direct response to the brand's partnership with Coulson Aviation, the forest-fire-fighting operation that Oris began working with in 2022. Unveiled at Dubai Watch Week, the new generation takes a more angular case and a redesigned bracelet clasp, sitting somewhere between the older ProPilot and the harder-edged ProPilot X rather than reaching backwards toward vintage aviation references. The textured black dial reads cleanly, with red accents on the hands, the rehaut minute markers and the ProPilot inscription at six o'clock giving it an edge that stops short of being decorative. The date sits at six, aligned with the inscription beneath it. At 11.7mm thick with a 49mm lug-to-lug, it wears close enough to the wrist to disappear under a cuff when needed — the proportions land well for a pilot watch at this diameter. The reprofiled crown gives a better grip than its predecessor, a small change that makes it noticeably easier to set in hand. The Calibre 733 is a Sellita SW200 base with Oris modifications, including the red rotor visible through the see-through caseback. It is a straightforward, dependable movement — not horologically unusual, but well-matched to a watch that is built to be used rather than collected.
