The Ripples Infinity Date belongs to a broader project Speake-Marin has pursued across several collections: finding ways to give a round dial and a square case equal authority, so neither reads as an afterthought. The solution here is the La City architecture, where the bezel's squared corners are softened into curves just enough that the case sits easily on the wrist without the angularity that makes some cushion-form watches feel dated. It is a considered shape, not an inherited one. The dial does most of the talking. Twelve horizontal ripple textures run across the rhodium-plated brass surface, which under raking light gives the silver finish a quiet movement that flat dials cannot replicate. The small seconds sits at 1:30, pulled away from the conventional 6 o'clock position, which gives the lower half of the dial room to breathe and makes the date window there less crowded than it would otherwise be. Heart-shaped hand tips are a Speake-Marin signature that reads as a detail rather than an affectation at this scale. The movement behind the display caseback runs a tungsten micro-rotor rather than a full rotor, keeping the 9.2mm thickness where it is — slim enough that the integration between bracelet and case reads as continuous rather than stacked. Côte de Genève finishing and hand-polished edges at this level of complication reflect the watchmaking priorities of a small independent house, and the 52-hour reserve gives a weekend of inactivity without a reset on Monday morning.

Peter Speake-Marin trained at Hackney Technical College in London, spent years restoring antique watches on Piccadilly and later worked at Renaud et Papi, the complications workshop behind much of the industry's most difficult work. He founded his own brand in Switzerland in 2002.
The house style was established early and has stayed: the Piccadilly case with its distinctive stepped bezel, the topping tool motif taken from a watchmaker's own bench, and heart-shaped bridges visible through the back.
Christelle Rosnoblet bought the company in 2012 and built a movement workshop in the Neuchâtel region, moving it from assembling supplied calibres towards developing and finishing its own.
The output is deliberately small and deliberately difficult — tourbillons, minute repeaters, the Vertical Double Tourbillon, and an Art Series with hand-sculpted dials. These are watches made in dozens rather than thousands.
Peter Speake-Marin himself has since moved on to other projects; the brand he named continues in Geneva.
