The PRX name revives a case shape Tissot drew in 1978, but the lineage runs deeper than that. The original was sold as the Seastar, a Geneva-era integrated-bracelet sports watch that sat in the same current as the Royal Oak and the Nautilus — a whole category of designs that treated the bracelet as architecture rather than accessory. The PRX is that idea revisited at a different price, with the Clous de Paris hobnail texture on the dial as a period-correct detail that rewards a closer look. At 10.9mm, the Powermatic 80 version is a fraction taller than its quartz sibling, though both carry their thickness well for the case shape. The rubber strap makes this reference wear narrower and lighter on the wrist than the steel-bracelet variants, which have a more monolithic presence. The hobnail dial is one of those surfaces that shifts between flat and three-dimensional depending on the angle of the light — under direct sun it reads as a grid of tiny facets, in shadow it settles back to near-matte black. Underneath, the movement is built on an ETA 2824 base but uses a Nivachron balance wheel, which resists both magnetic interference and temperature variation better than a conventional alloy — useful in everyday conditions rather than just in principle. The 80-hour power reserve means a watch left on the nightstand Friday evening will still be running correctly Monday morning.
